After the last Religious School session for 2015, the Junior Youth Group headed to Target and Dollar Tree to get some gifts for others in need. For the past few years, the JYG has elected to support charitable causes in lieu of a gift exchange. This year, Judith Bock, Diane Kwasman and Sheri Cruz led the group in helping local Jewish families as well as needy people far away. They also purchased goods for “Taking It To The Streets”, a charity run by members Lori and Shira Rich that aids homeless people and their pets.
Afterwards, they came back to Sheri Cruz’s house to celebrate the JYG Hanukkah party, during which they played several games and wrapped some of the gifts just purchased. There was plenty of food, including brisket, homemade macaroni & cheese, and, of course, latkes cooked by Lisa Mayberry (thanks, Lisa!).
