This August makes seven years my family has been at Temple Beth El. We joined when we moved to Riverside for two reasons: we had children of religious school age and we wanted to make friends. Well, our children have finished RS, but we haven’t finished making friends. I found that the best way to “break” into friendship circles is to stay informed about what is going on and try things that look interesting. Sisterhood has two fresh ways to keep you in the loop…
Have you seen your copy of the Chai Line—the Sisterhood’s newsletter? It has a handy pullout with important dates in the TBE calendar as well as the Jewish calendar. It should have arrived in the mail in July. In it, you will find information about all Sisterhood does for the temple as well as upcoming events.
When I talk to Sisterhood members, one thing I always hear is, “I wish we would get together more often!” We will address this in the coming months with a series of Sisterhood General Meetings and Coffee Mornings. The first one is Sunday, September 28 from 11:00-12:00 in the Social Hall. Please come for a friendly hour of Sisterhood business, coffee and cake, and a little something extra if time allows. Stay on for a nutritious lunch with the religious school families at noon.
Sisterhood is a great way to make friends and help the temple at the same time. I hope you will join our events and meetings—we are looking forward to seeing you!
